Course Description
The general objective of this course is to enhance the leadership capacity of interfaith youth in building peace by addressing ecological issues. Specific objectives include identifying the impacts of climate change and the urgency of ecological resilience, addressing issues of tolerance and freedom of religion/belief related to ecology, implementing strategic communication, advocacy, and campaigns, designing social projects that connect peace and ecology, and supporting the values of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Gus Dur’s Nine Values.
The course material consists of six main themes:
- Climate Change and Ecological Resilience;
- Tolerance and Freedom of Religion/Belief;
- GEDSI;
- Gus Dur’s Nine Values;
- Strategic Communication, Advocacy, and Campaigns; and
- Community Project Design and Management.
The approach used is Experiential Learning, which involves four stages: Real-Life Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation. The workshop themes are structured according to this learning cycle, starting with Climate Change and Ecological Resilience as the “entry point” and ending with Community Project Design and Management.
The course will be held over 13 weeks.
